ALICE
BROVAN, piano,
performs as a soloist and chamber musician. She was Dean of the
Wisconsin Conservatory of Music and served on the faculties of Cardinal
Stritch University, the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music, and the
University of Wisconsin Milwaukee Continuing Studies division. Ms.
Brovan has performed extensively throughout the Midwest as a member of
the Bliss/Brovan Piano Duo and Music From Almost Yesterday contemporary
chamber music ensemble. Currently she performs with the Trio con Brio
piano trio, the Sebastian Piano Duo and the Fountain Hills Chamber
Players. |

PATRICIA
COSAND,
violist,
is a
graduate of California State
University at Fresno, where she studied violin. She also received a
Master of Music degree from Arizona State University, where her teacher
was William Magers. A member of the Phoenix Symphony for ten years, she
is currently principal viola of the Arizona Opera Orchestra, and
co-owner of the Mesa Violin Studios. Patricia is married to pianist
Walter Cosand and they reside in Tempe. |

MARK
ENGELSMAN, cello
holds a
Bachelors and Masters in cello
performance from Arizona State University. He has studied with
Takayori Atsumi, Claus Adam, and Pierre Fournier. He was a member
of the Phoenix Symphony cello section for 13 years, the Flagstaff
Festival Orchestra, and performed with the cello quartet Los
Celistas. He has
performed
as a soloist with the Mesa Symphony Orchestra and was principal cellist
with the San Marcos Symphony for five years. Mr. Engelsman, who is in
the residential real business is principal cellist with both the Mesa
Symphony and Musica Nova Orchestra. |

JOAN
EVANS, flute began
studying
flute at the age of eight and
was a member of band, wind ensemble, and orchestra throughout her
school years. She received her bachelors and masters
degrees in music
education with emphasis on flute performance from the Crane School of
Music-SUNY Potsdam in New York State. After several years of teaching,
she took a job in human resources, where she spent the major part of
her career. Joan has most recently been working in Fountain Hills as a
paralegal and administrative assistant. In addition to performing with
the Fountain Hills Chamber Players, Joan is the assistant director of
the Fountain Hills Community Chorus. She is an avid reader and loves to
spend time with her three cats. |

NIKOLAUS
FLICKINGER,
oboe/English horn received a Master's degree and was the oboe Teaching
Assistant at Arizona State University in 2007. Before Arizona, Nikolaus
attended the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music,
where he received his bachelors degree. Currently he performs
as
principal oboe of the Musica Nova Orchestra and second oboe for the
Mesa Symphony Orchestra. He has also performed with the Phoenix
Symphony and the Fort Wayne Philharmonic. Nikolaus's main
teachers have
been Martin Schuring and Mark Ostoich. |

JOSH
GARDNER, clarinet is
a
student in the Doctor of Musical Arts
program at ASU as a student of Dr. Robert Spring, and a graduate
teaching assistant for a new Learning Community that uses music as a
means to teach physics. Gardner received the Bachelor degree in Music
Education and Clarinet Performance from the University of Kentucky.
Currently he is collaborating with the Vocal Tract Visualization
Laboratory at the University of Maryland Dental School to map tongue
motion during multiple articulation on the clarinet using ultrasound.
In July 2008, Gardner won first prize in the International Clarinet
Association Research Competition with a presentation entitled
Ultrasonographic Investigation of Clarinet Multiple Articulation. He is
co-author of the clarinet method book, Extreme Clarinet, which focuses
on extended techniques such as multiple articulation, circular
breathing, and upper-register tone production. He is also the clarinet
instructor at Glendale Community College. Gardner performs with several
chamber groups, including the Fountain Hills Chamber Players and the
Mill Avenue Chamber Players. He has performed with Arizona Opera,
Ballet Tucson, and the Phoenix Symphony Orchestra.

LOIS
MCELLIGOTT, piano is
a PhD chemist
by
profession and a Grant Coordinator and Curriculum Specialist at
Fountain Hills Unified School District. She has served as accompanist
for many choirs and is currently the pianist with the Fountain Hills
Community Chorus. She also plays for other groups, including the
Fountain Hills Community Theater and East Valley Theater for Youth. She
has performed at Lincoln Center in New York with the Fountain Hills
High Flight Choir.

EDITH
ROBERTS,
violin, received her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from the
Cleveland Institute of Music. She also did graduate work at the
University of New Mexico and Yale, and twice represented Cleveland at
the International String Congress. Her teachers included renowned
violinists Sydney Harth and Broadus Earl. Until moving to Phoenix in
1995, Edith taught violin and strings at various schools and musical
institutions in the Cleveland area, and performed extensively in solo
recitals, chamber music, and orchestral programs. She served as concert
master in a number of orchestras over the decades, and was active in
several musical organizations. Currently Edith is a member of Trio Con
Brio and has also played with the Flagstaff Symphony, Musica Nova, and
the Fine Arts Strings Orchestra. |

JULIE
SCHLAFER, bassoon,
has a
D.M.A. and M.T.E.S.L. from Arizona
State University and M.M. and B.M. degrees from the University of
Cincinnati, College Conservatory of Music. She is a native of rural New
York State, where her early musical training included playing the
violin for her parent's cows. She later switched to bassoon and
as a
bassoonist has performed around the country and around the world with
groups including the Phoenix Symphony, Santa Fe Symphony, Sarasota
Music Festival, Texas Music Festival, and Opera Theatre and Music
Festival of Lucca, Italy. In addition to performing with the Fountain
Hills Chamber Players, she currently performs with the Red Mountain
Winds and other area ensembles. She is also a freelance editor and
teaches English and English as a second language privately and in local
colleges.

TED
SCROPOS cello, began
studying
cello at age 8. By age 12 he
was the youngest member of the American Conservatory of Music Symphony
Orchestra. After retiring from a career in architecture, he resumed
playing cello, dividing his time between Arizona and Florida. Currently
he performs with the Fine Arts Strings Orchestra in Scottsdale, and the
Musica Nova Baroque
Orchestra. |

CATHY
WORCESTER, violin, studied at Boise
State University
with Kathryn Mitchell, and at Arizona State
University
with Eugene Lombardi. She has a Bachelor
of Music in violin performance from Arizona
State University,
and a master’s degree in violin performance from Indiana University
where she studied with Josef Gingold. She
has served as concertmaster of the Mesa Symphony
Orchestra, Arizona
Opera, and the Sun Cities Symphony of the West Valley. Ms. Worcester performs with the Opus 2 duo
ensemble and enjoys freelance and string quartet playing.
In addition, she teaches a large studio of
private students.

DEREK J. WRIGHT, horn is an
active musician in the Phoenix,
AZ
metropolitan area. He currently
performs with the Arizona Thunder Horns, the Herberger Wind Quintet,
the Arizona
State University Wind Band, and
as a principal horn of the Arizona State University Symphony
Orchestra. He also plays as a substitute horn with the Phoenix
Symphony. In addition, Derek is an active
soloist and frequently gives well-received recitals.
He is currently pursuing
the Doctor of Musical Arts degree
at Arizona State University where he is a
Teaching Assistant of Horn. In addition to
his teaching at ASU, Derek maintains a private
studio of horn students. He
holds a Master of Music degree from the University of Minnesota
and a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Illinois. He was a winner of the Harvey V. Berneking
Fellowship in 2005 and 2006, and has placed as a finalist in the ASU
Brass
Concerto Competition in 2007 and 2008.
Derek has previously played
with the American Wind Symphony
Orchestra, the Burgos Chamber Music
Festival Brass Quintet (Spain),
the
Riverside Winds
of
Minneapolis,
and
the Green Street
Brass Quintet.
